Rheem HVAC Upgrades at Van Buren School District Ensure a Comfortable Place to Learn

April 30, 2025

See how Rheem Commercial Air HVAC upgrades improved temperature and humidity control at K-12 school district in Arkansas.

Spread across 12 buildings and over 2 million square feet, the Van Buren School District is the bedrock of the Van Buren, Arkansas, community. Weekend football games, an award-winning marching band program, countless clubs, and activities—it’s where the next generation comes to grow, both in and out of the classroom.

The school district is also just down the road from Rheem’s Fort Smith, Arkansas, Manufacturing Plant and Research & Development facility, where Rheem Commercial Air units are designed and produced. So when some of the district’s schools—including Northridge Middle School and Central Elementary—needed new heating and cooling systems, Rheem was the first choice.

“The Rheem® product has been a great product to us,” says Danny Spears, director of maintenance at Van Buren School District. “We had already been putting Rheem in for about the last 10 years, so we were already familiar with Rheem, and we have enjoyed the product. Rheem being local, right across the bridge from us, made it very accessible to us to use Rheem products.”

With their previous positive experience, Spears knew that Rheem Commercial Air was the best partner to replace all the HVAC units across the school district. Justin Lowder, owner of Lowder Brothers Heating and Air, agreed.

“You can ask any of my techs what brand they prefer working on, and every single one of them will say Rheem,” says Justin Lowder, owner of Lowder Brothers Heating and Air.

With school now back in session, Lowder says the new Rheem units have “performed flawlessly” since installation—students and staff alike can feel the difference.

See how Rheem Commercial Air’s innovative Renaissance and Resolute lines delivered cool comfort and enhanced temperature and humidity control across the Van Buren School District in time for the new school year, and hear from the district decision makers why they recommend Rheem to other K-12 school districts.
