Every year on National Tradesmen Day, we write a message of thanks to plumbers everywhere for all their hard work and service. While we’re grateful for plumbers every day, National Tradesmen Day is a great opportunity to recognize plumbers for all they do. Plumbers are the backbone of our communities and keep our households running smoothly every single day. Our homes run on hot water, and plumbers train for many years to master the art and science of the trade. The next time you turn on the tap or shower, remember the plumber who is making instantly clean, convenient and warm water possible.
This year is extra special because National Tradesmen Day comes right after the Plumbing National Championship hosted by ServiceTitan® Elite Trades Championship Series (ETCS). This gave us a chance to see a few of the passionate plumbers from across the country in action.
The Plumbing National Championship is an annual event bringing together top plumbers in a series of challenging events. Plumbers from all over the country showcase their skills and talents for a chance to compete for cash and prizes. The first round is an online quiz assessing plumbers’ knowledge across all areas of the trade. In the second round, plumbers who move forward receive an at-home challenge kit by SharkBite™ to test their skills further. In the last round, the top five plumbers chosen go head-to-head in an exciting 90-minute competition installing water heaters, where the winner is announced. This year, the final round took place on Friday, September 13 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. We sent our team to watch the finalists firsthand.
It was a fierce competition. The finalists impressed everyone with how quick, sharp and adaptable they were in the biggest challenge of all. Each of them installed the latest Rheem® ProTerra® Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater. With the anticipation and pressure cranked up to the max, the challenge brought out the best in these extraordinary plumbers.
Normally, we see plumbers attending to residents and addressing their water issues. Plumbers are heroes in their own right in their daily lives, but events like the Plumbing National Championship take it further by putting them directly in the spotlight. We are thankful for the opportunity to see plumbers who demonstrate some of the best craftsmanship and innovation in the field.
The full show will air on CBS Sports Network in December, but until then, you can follow along on Rheem Water Heating and the Plumbing National Championship’s social media channels. Stay tuned!
