2020 Green Builder Hot 50 Products Award Editor’s Choice
Heating, Cooling and Indoor Air Quality
In 2020, Green Builder Magazine named the Rheem® Classic Plus® Series R801T Ultra Low NOx Gas Furnace an Editors Choice for the Heating, Cooling and Indoor Air Quality category. Green Builder noted that the ULN was the “first residential gas-fired furnace certified by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) for Rule 1111. SCAQMD created the California mandate to reduce NOx in natural gas-fired, fan-type central furnaces from 40 nanogram per joule to 14 nanogram per joule.”

In 2020, Rheem® achieved the top spot in the Green Builder Media Brand Index among top hot water system brands. This year, Rheem has taken a substantial lead in the index, which measures how Green Builder Media readers rank water heating brands in terms of sustainability and favorability. Rheem also ranked first among solar thermal water heating brands.
In 2018, Green Builder Magazine named the Rheem® Prestige® Series R98V Modulating Upflow Gas Furnace its Editors Choice for the Heating Cooling, and Water Heating category. Green Builder noted that the R98V “offers the highest efficiency today at 98.7 percent AFUE, saving maximum energy and money for homeowners.”
