Stage 1 Recap (Laps 1-75)
  • Christopher Bell took the green flag for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season finale at Phoenix Raceway from the 17th position in his No. 95 Rheem-Smurfit Kappa Toyota Camry.
  • The No. 95 fired off loose and when the competition caution came out on lap 30 Bell was running 20th.
  • Bell pitted under the competition caution for four tires, fuel, wedge and an air pressure adjustment.
  • Racing resumed with 39 laps remaining in stage one. Bell restarted 21st and gained one position to finish stage one 20th at Phoenix.
  • Bell was still battling a loose handling condition and no lateral grip. He came back down pit road for four tires, fuel, wedge, air pressure and track bar adjustments.
Stage 2 Recap (Laps 84-190)
  • Bell started 18th and finished 23rd in stage two.
  • Handling continued to be an issue for Bell and the team lost a lap to the leaders through a round of green flag pit stops.
  • A caution late in stage two presented the opportunity to take the “wave around” and get back on the lead lap. Bell was able to capitalize and get his No. 95 back on the lead lap with 23 laps remaining in stage two.
  • Bell finished stage two 23rd. At the stage break the team serviced his Rheem-Smurfit Kappa Toyota with another round of adjustments to help with handling.
Stage 3 Recap (Laps 201-312)
  • Bell started stage three 22nd and crossed the finish line 17th.
  • The field took the green for the final stage with 112 laps remaining.
  • Bell started 22nd and raced his way up to 16th before making a green flag pit stop on lap 250 for four tires, fuel, track bar and air pressure adjustments.
  • Following the stop Bell raced his way up to 12th but over a long green flag run lost a lap to the field.
  • Bell crossed the finish line 17th when the checkered flag waved on the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season.
