No. 20 Rheem Toyota News and Notes

  • Duel in the Desert: Christopher Bell and the No. 20 Rheem team continue their West Coast swing this weekend as the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) makes the first of two stops this season in Phoenix, Ariz. at the newly named ISM Raceway on Saturday afternoon. Bell will be making his second-career NXS start at ISM Raceway this weekend, having started eighth and finishing fourth in his first NXS appearance at the 1.0-mile facility last November.
  • Las Vegas Recap: The NXS made their first of two stops this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend for the Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday afternoon. Looking to capitalize on their top-five finish in Atlanta, Christopher Bell and his Rheem team stayed hot in Vegas, earning back-to-back pole awards after running a time of 29.398 seconds around the 1.5-mile oval, good enough for Bell’s third-career pole award in just 11 NXS starts. After leading the field to the green under cold and windy conditions on Saturday afternoon for the 200-lap event, Bell went on to lead six laps, and crossed the finish line in the second position, earning his second top-five finish of the 2018 season.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing at Phoenix: JGR has 77 NXS starts at ISM Raceway and has earned 10 wins, 33 top-five and 54 top-10 finishes. The championship-winning organization has won 15 pole awards with an average start of 8.3 an average finish of 9.6.
  • RACE INFO: The DC Solar 200 at ISM Raceway begins at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The race will be broadcast live on FOX, Sirius XM 90, and MRN Radio.

From the Cockpit

“I’m looking forward to getting out to Phoenix and back behind the wheel of my Rheem Camry on Saturday afternoon. We’ve had a pretty solid start to the season, so we are looking to keep that momentum going as we continue this west coast swing. This will be the first short-track race of the season, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we have and how we stack up with the rest of the field. This organization is firing on all cylinders right now, and it’s just a lot of fun to drive these Camry’s every weekend.”
