Menard Aims to Finish in Top Two at Sprint Showdown

May 18, 2013

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – All-Star Race and Sprint Showdown
May 18, 2013 – Charlotte Motor Speedway
Paul Menard, No. 27

Paul Menard will pilot chassis No. 386 in the Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This No. 27 Chevrolet SS raced at Texas Motor Speedway in 2012, but has not previously run this season. Menard has five-career Sprint Showdown starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway. His best start of third came in 2011 and best finish of fourth came in 2010. The Wisconsin native has completed 160 of 200 laps attempted (80 percent) in the NASCAR All-Star Race qualifying event. In his last appearance in the Sprint Showdown, Menard started the No. 27 Chevrolet from the third position and was involved in an on-track incident causing damage to the car. Ultimately, Menard finished 11th in the 40-lap event.

The great thing about this weekend is there are no points on the line. We can just go out there, race hard and have fun. We’re going to do our best to finish in the top two in the (Sprint )Showdown so we can race the Serta/Menards Chevrolet into the big show (All-Star Race) Saturday night. It’s a fun night because with the race being in Charlotte, a lot of the crew guys can have their families come out and watch, so hopefully we can put on a good show for them. – Paul Menard
