Menard and the No. 27 Team Are Ready for the NRA 500

April 13, 2013

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – NRA 500
April 13, 2013 – Texas Motor Speedway
Paul Menard, No. 27

Paul Menard will pilot chassis No. 418 at Texas Motor Speedway. This No. 27 Chevrolet SS is a new addition to the Richard Childress Racing stable this season. Menard has 13 starts at Texas Motor Speedway. His best start of fourth and best finish of fifth came in 2011. The Wisconsin native has completed 4,168 of 4,353 laps attempted (95.8 percent) at the 1.5-mile oval, leading two of them. In this race last year at Texas Motor Speedway, Menard started 11th in the No. 27 Chevrolet and after struggling with handling issues throughout the night, finished 18th under the lights.

I think Texas (Motor Speedway) is going to be a lot like Auto Club Speedway. The tires fall off quickly and the groove moves around a lot. The setups that work with fresh tires probably aren’t going to work with old worn out tires, so well have to calculate that into our adjustments. The track also has a lot of bumps that you have to drive around, kind of like the seams at Auto Club Speedway. The track has a lot of character to it, which makes it a fun 1.5-mile speedway to drive. After Martinsville, I’m looking forward to going out west and hopefully we can get back on track and start finishing in the top 10 again. – Paul Menard
