Iowa: With the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series taking a weekend off, The NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) takes center stage this weekend at Iowa Speedway when they make their first of two stops of the 2019 season at the .875-mile track. Christopher Bell will be making his fourth-career series start the Newton, IA facility on Sunday. In his previous three starts at Iowa, Bell has one win, one pole, two top-five and two top-10 finishes.

We should have a good shot at it; short track racing seems to be our strong suit right now. I enjoy 1.5-mile tracks and intermediate style racing better

Michigan Recap: Christopher Bell started the NXS race at Michigan International Speedway from the second position and remained there throughout Stage 1. Bell took the lead in Stage 2 and the Stage win. A miscommunication over pit strategy during the final Stage resulted in a green-flag trip down pit road for a splash of fuel as the laps dwindled down. Despite the stop, Bell worked his way back to cross the finish line 13th.

Joe Gibbs Racing at Iowa: JGR has 52 NXS starts at Iowa Speedway and has earned six wins, 20 top-five and 33 top-10 finishes. The championship-winning organization has won eight pole awards with an average start of 6.5 and an average finish of 9.8.

Christopher Bell: “Iowa has been really good to us in the past. It’s been a great racetrack for Joe Gibbs Racing well before me. We should have a good shot at it; short track racing seems to be our strong suit right now. I enjoy 1.5-mile tracks and intermediate style racing better, but for whatever reason, we seem to run better on the short tracks. Iowa is like a short track with intermediate track speeds; it’s in its own unique category. It’s a fun racetrack; you get to go there and typically you can pass, move around and find different lanes. It provides a good race.”
