Rheem Announces New Sustainability Goals for 2035
January 30, 2026

At Rheem, sustainability isn’t just a feature we add to our products — it’s a foundation of who we are as a global company. As an industry leader, we continue to innovate and reimagine air and water solutions that drive our customers’ success and protect the environment we all share.
Back in 2019, Rheem launched sustainability goals for 2025 to unite us and amplify our impacts globally. Now, leveraging the successful completion of those goals and momentum from our 100-year anniversary, we continue to honor and celebrate what comes next for Rheem as we work together to elevate everything we do to A Greater Degree of Good®.
Announced at this year’s AHR Expo, our 2035 goals expand on our commitment to lower our environmental impact, reduce waste, and train the trade. For us, this next step also highlights a bold new vision of the future and reaffirms our dedication to driving innovation that benefits customers, communities, and new generations.
Rheem’s 2035 Goals:
-
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 30% across the entire lifecycle of Rheem® products.1
-
Optimize packaging, ensuring 90% of packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable, or has 50% recycled content.2
-
Maintain zero waste to landfill (ZWTL) status across all factories and extend the initiative to new acquisitions.3
-
Global waste reduction by lowering waste intensity by 10% (ton/unit).4
-
Complete one million trainings for plumbers, contractors, and key influences globally on sustainable products, refrigerant management, and/or sustainable best practices.
“Rheem’s commitment to sustainability is carried out through our A Greater Degree of Good initiative centered around product innovation, responsible manufacturing processes, and training the trade,” said Chee Wee Gan, senior vice president, strategy and sustainability, during the announcement. “Aligning with a mission to engineer what is best for our customers, our industry, and our environment, Rheem is building on this foundation to amplify impact now and into the future.”

1Rheem’s goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2035 from a 2023 baseline. This metric will be based on intensity emissions normalized by revenue and includes Scopes 1-3 as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. At this time, these figures have not been independently verified by a third party.
2Rheem measures reusable, recyclable, compostable, and recycled content in line with ISO and FTC standards. At this time, these figures have not been independently verified by a third party.
3A Rheem plant is considered to have reached Zero Waste to Landfill when it achieves a rate of at least 90% diversion of nonhazardous solid waste away from landfill, waste-to-energy (WTE), and incineration, in line with the Zero Waste International Alliance standards and TRUE Zero Waste standards. At this time, these figures have not been independently verified by a third party.
4Rheem measures waste intensity as a ratio of total weight of non-hazardous waste generated across all manufacturing facilities to total units produced from a 2023 baseline. At this time, these figures have not been independently verified by a third party.
