The Rheem Heart of Comfort Program Gives Back .

2013-11-25

In its first year, the employee program has helped 70+ charitable organizations

ATLANTA—Nov. 25, 2013–Rheem today has extended its Heart of Comfort philanthropy program throughout the communities where its employees and customers live and work. The program builds on the company’s 88-year history of community-focused philanthropy to unite Rheem employees across North America in charitable efforts and better reach more people and neighborhoods in need. Plus, Heart of Comfort enables Rheem to address urgent needs where efficient heating, cooling and water heating systems, can make a difference in the lives of others.

“The Rheem employee family has always been committed to giving back in ways that benefit our own communities and those of our customers,” said Karen Meyers, corporate director, government relations, Rheem. “Heart of Comfort allows us to unify all the efforts of our individual Rheem locations and bring them under a single, companywide program so that we can not only improve our current efforts, but expand and amplify those efforts. In just our first year of the program, we have watched our impact grow exponentially.”

Earlier this year, Rheem introduced the program internally at its sites in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Since that time, employees at have advanced the initiative by leading charitable and fundraising efforts benefiting their communities. To expand the program, Rheem has unveiled a new website to highlight the impact of Heart of Comfort and provide Rheem customers, friends, family members and the general public with information about how they can be part of the initiative.

As of October 2013, the program has helped more than 70 organizations through volunteering, humanitarian relief, charitable events and fundraising, amounting to nearly $200,000 in donations. Among those efforts, and in partnership with the American Red Cross, Heart of Comfort raised $30,858 for Superstorm Sandy relief and sponsored a companywide Rheem Jeans Day fundraising event benefitting Oklahoma storm victims. Other efforts have benefitted breast cancer research, youth development, American troops overseas and the March of Dimes.
