Company debuts industry-first commercial hybrid heat recovery water heating system and highlights several recently launched HVAC, water heating and integrated technologies

ATLANTA (JANUARY 31, 2011) — At the AHR Expo 2011, Rheem Manufacturing Company is showcasing a variety of technologically advanced and highly efficient heating, cooling and water heating products, and debuting an industry-first commercial hybrid air and water product. The company will be exhibiting in the largest exhibit space at the AHR Expo 2011, #C1337, in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“Rheem is leveraging our unique expertise in both air and water to create truly compelling products and solutions that increase energy efficiency,” said Rheem Senior Vice President and COO Chris Peel. “The solutions on-display at this year’s AHR Expo are technologically advanced, while maintaining the same high-quality and reliability Rheem is known for. We want to ensure that distributors, contractors and others attending the show fully appreciate the robust arsenal of products at their disposal.”

Some of the featured products at this year’s show include: the all-new Rheem Hybrid Air and Water Package Unit; the Integrated Heating & Water Heating System Powered by Tankless Technology; the Hybrid Water Heater with Heat Pump Technology; and the Prestige™ Condensing Tankless Water Heater:

Hybrid Air and Water Package Unit: Rheem will unveil its new commercial Hybrid Air and Water Package Unit, which is the only product in the industry leveraging heat recovery water heating technology. Rheem has identified full service restaurants as the primary beneficiary of this new product; 46 percent of a full service restaurant’s operating cost is due to HVAC and water expenses (source: Environmental Protection Agency). The Hybrid Air and Water Package Unit works by switching over from a refrigerant to air system to a refrigerant to water system when there is a demand for air conditioning and hot water. Warm air transfers its heat to the refrigerant as in a normal cooling cycle. Then, the heat of the refrigerant is transferred to the water instead of the outside environment as in a normal air conditioning cycle. Depending on water usage and hot water fuel type, Rheem anticipates that full service restaurants can reap substantial annual savings when implementing the Hybrid Air and Water Package.

Integrated Heating & Water Heating System: The Rheem Integrated Heating & Water Heating System Powered by Tankless Technology is an innovative cross-platform product that offers home heating and hot water from a single source. Unlike other products in the industry, this system is designed, built and warranted by a single manufacturer, Rheem, ensuring seamless product integration that can create one of the most technologically advanced and energy-efficient home comfort systems possible.

Hybrid Water Heater with Heat Pump Technology: Designed for smaller households with a lower hot-water demand, the new 40-gallon Rheem HP-40 hybrid is ENERGY STAR-rated and qualifies for a variety of state and local incentives or rebates. The only 40-gallon heat pump water heater available today, Rheem designed the HP-40 to provide excellent energy savings benefits for households that have lower daily hot water requirements. For instance, younger couples and empty nesters could benefit from the lower operating cost of this cutting-edge hybrid that integrates heat pump technology with conventional electric elements.

Condensing Tankless Water Heater: The Rheem Prestige Series Condensing Tankless Water Heater is the most efficient Rheem tankless water heater to-date. Boasting an industry-best minimum flow rate of .26 GPM and a minimum activation flow rate of .40 GPM, homeowners using low-flow fixtures receive hot water without having to increase the flow. That’s an important benefit in today’s eco-conscious world that translates to savings on water usage and energy costs. Units can vent with PVC piping, making installation faster, easier and cost-effective for contractors.

Rheem will display these and other solutions at the AHR Expo 2011 in Las Vegas, Monday, Jan. 31 – Wednesday, Feb. 2, in exhibit #C1337 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Rheem exhibit is an entirely new tradeshow design, which will showcase a new look for the brand and demonstrate the future of integrated air and water technology in both the HVAC and water heating industries.
