Rheem-Ruud Universal Gas Water Heaters Cut The Hassels Of Commercial-Replacement Work.
April 30, 2002
Offering significantly smaller dimensions and plumbing multiple connections, the Rheem-Ruud line of UNIVERSAL GAS WATER HEATERS is designed to ease the often difficult task of replacing failed units in larger commercial applications. Over 20 models are now available, including Heavyweight, Middleweight and Lightweight units, as well as the all-new Bantam weight models. Designed for commercial applications requiring large quantities of hot water, the Universal delivers inputs up to 600,000 Btu. Storage capacities range from 37 to 100 gallons.
ONE HEATER, NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS: Government-mandated changes in water heater design have rendered many commercial models too tall or too wide for replacement applications. Either they don’t fit the available spaces, or their connections require time-consuming and costly re-plumbing. With its smaller jacket diameters and shorter floor-to-vent heights, the versatile Rheem-Ruud Universal more readily fits into those tight spaces.
The key is the Universal’s low-profile, automatic flue damper that minimizes overall height. Hookups are easier as well, with six inlet and outlet water connections on the top as well as on the front and rear sides. Whatever the situation confronting the plumber, he has more connection options to get the job done quickly and more easily.
Other standard features on the Rheem-Ruud Universal include:
- a spark-to-pilot ignition system that saves energy by reliably igniting only when there is a demand for hot water;
- a durable, full-port, full-flow brass drain valve for faster draining of the tank;
- a patented, multi-flue tank design that uses two coats of high-temperature porcelain enamel to maximize corrosion resistance and extend water heater life.
HIGH-TECH DIAGNOSTICS: All Universal models include the SYSTEM SENTINEL™ DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM for monitoring key functions and components. The Sentinel’s glowing LED lights provide a ready alert to numerous operational problems, enabling the service plumber to size up and solve these problems more quickly, saving valuable time and cost. “With the System Sentinel,” says national commercial market manager Dave Hanning, “the installing contractor will leave the job confident that the water heater is working properly.”
