Rheem Introduces New Gas Furnace That Qualifies for U.S. Federal Energy Tax Credit.

June 2, 2006

Rheem Manufacturing Company, Heating and Cooling Division today introduced its new GRL model 90% gas furnace designed to give contractors additional business-building opportunities and homeowners lower energy consumption, utility bill relief, and a $150 federal tax credit. The GRL model joins the industry’s strongest furnace line of award-winning high efficiency heating products that qualify for U.S. Federal tax credits.

The U.S. Energy Policy Act & Tax Credit Program enacted by the U.S. Congress in 2005 states that homeowners who purchase and have installed qualifying products during 2006 and 2007 can claim up to $500 on their federal tax return. Consumers may source, download and complete a qualification statement and provide it with their income tax return to receive the credit. Detailed information and the form complying with IRS requirements is located at www.rheemac.com/taxcredit. Contractors may download additional homeowner information and related promotional materials from www.rheemliterature.com.

The new Rheem Classic Series® RGRL model gas furnace qualifies for this credit, and is available in three options, ranging from 45,000 to 90,000 btuh.

In addition to the Federal Tax Credit, the GRL model delivers several important includes advantages for contractors and homeowners:

  • 34-inch cabinet is the industry’s smallest and most compact and fits into small vertical spaces, eliminating the need for horizontal installations in attics and crawlspaces.
  • Contractors find the compact GRL to be easier, faster, and simpler to install reducing time on the job and cost savings for the homeowner..
  • Two-stage operation saves energy by operating at 70% capacity during mild days, and 100% capacity for maximum heat on the coldest days.
  • An integrated control board manages all operational functions and provides hookups for a wide variety of indoor air quality products, such as energy and heat recovery ventilators, untraviolet filters and most single- and two-stage programmable thermostats.

“We recognize the challenges that rising natural gas prices pose for homeowners and we want to ensure that Rheem contractors have the industry’s widest array of heating product solutions to meet every homeowner’s need and budget,” said Karla Lynn, residential indoor product manager, Rheem Air Conditioning Division. “With the GRL and our other products that qualify for the Federal Tax Credit, we are addressing real-world homeowner economic concerns, while providing responsible environmental stewardship by supporting the nation’s energy use objectives.”
