Rheem Honored in the 2012 Alabama Manufacturer of the Year Awards with Partnership Award.

2012-07-16

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—July 16, 2012–The Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Technology Network awarded Rheem the prestigious Partnership Award, as part of the 2012 Alabama Manufacturer of the Year Awards. The award recognizes excellence in manufacturing, exemplary leadership in service to community, job creation and being an outstanding example of a corporate steward throughout Alabama.

“The Partnership Award is a tremendous honor, since it acknowledges the commitment that we put forward to be a vital, contributing member of the Montgomery community and the Great State of Alabama,” Peter Reynolds, vice president and general manager, Rheem Water Heating Division. “We’re thrilled that the Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Technology Network selected Rheem for this esteemed award and we look forward to continuing to foster strong ties with our city and state."

Rheem has been a finalist in the award competition’s Large Manufacturer of the Year category for the past three years, but this is the first time the company earned the Partnership Award. An independent panel of judges selected Rheem for this honor, thanks to the company’s steadfast commitment to excellence, employee safety and community service; Rheem has donated more than $100,000 each year to local charities and organizations.

Montgomery is the home to Rheem’s water heating division, which includes three facilities in the city. Rheem built its first plant in Montgomery in 1971; it has been enlarged twice since then. Today, Rheem is one of the region’s largest manufacturers. The company’s water heating product portfolio includes residential and commercial tank, tankless, point-of-use electric tankless, solar and hybrid heat pump water heaters.

The Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Technology Network began its annual awards ceremony in 2000. This year’s Alabama Manufacturer of the Year Awards event took place in late-June and featured a keynote presentation by Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange. Jay Timmons, president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, participated in the luncheon via videoconference from Washington, D.C.
