Rheem Heating and Cooling Division Awards Scholarships to 2008 Graduates.

July 25, 2008

Rheem Heating and Cooling Division recently announced the recipients of the 2008 Rheem Scholarship Award. The $2,500 award is an annual recognition for children of employees at the Fort Smith plant. The winners are Srivathana “Maxine” Phansiri of Van Buren High School, Francis Sabado of Northside High School, Kelsey Taylor of Alma High School, Britta Palmer of Southside High School and Stefan Savage of Charleston High School.

The scholarship is able to be used toward expenses at a school or university of their choice and is awarded based on outstanding achievement during high school. The winners were selected based on a written essay, teacher recommendations and overall involvement in their schools and the Fort Smith community. In addition to the scholarship, each student received a framed certificate and a gift pack.

“These students are the leaders of tomorrow,” said Bill Hanesworth, vice president, general manager, Rheem Heating & Cooling. “Each of these students has been able to achieve excellence in high school while also showing outstanding dedication to Fort Smith. We are proud they are a part of the Rheem family.”

Phansiri plans to study industrial engineering while Sabado will study mechanical engineering. Taylor will pursue computer sciences, Palmer will study political science and Savage is interested in biological sciences.
