Rheem and Ruud Professional Series Water Heaters Allows Contractor To Offer Extended Warranty Protection.
March 30, 2002
<p><br> PROFESSIONAL SERIES Gas and Electric Residential Water Heaters feature an automatic, two-year warranty extension on both the tank and the parts, free of charge, but only when sold and installed by a professional plumbing contractor. Both warranty extensions — from six years to eight years — are available on all Professional models, which are made by Rheem Water Heaters under the Rheem and Ruud labels.</p> <div> </div> <p> </p> <div>The eight-year tank warranty can be upgraded to 12 years with the PROTECTION PLUS WARRANTY EXTENSION KIT. Each kit contains the following components:</div> <div>• a high-quality, magnesium anode rod, which delivers significantly more anodic protection, thus helping to extend tank life;</div> <div>• a plastic-lined nipple that is fitted to the anode rod and installed on the hot side of the water heater;</div> <div>• a plastic-lined, dielectric nipple for the cold side.</div> <p> </p> <div>Packaged in a slender, 26-inch by 3-1/2-inch box weighing less than two pounds, the kit also includes a warranty certificate with instructions and a peel-off Protection Plus label to be placed on the water heater at the time of installation. Should a tank leak occur during the warranty period, the owner simply submits the peel-off tag with the warranty claim to Rheem. No other paperwork is necessary for either the plumber or the home owner.</div> <p> </p> <div> “Protection Plus is not just another paper warranty, with no real enhancement of the product’s design and performance,” says Rheem vice president of marketing David Martin. “Our kit adds genuine value to the water heater, enabling it to comfortably outlast the length of the warranty — even a 12-year warranty available with the Professional Series. What’s more, the plumbing dealer can offer multiple warranty options to his customers with virtually no increase in his water heater inventory, whether in the shop or on the truck.”</div> <p> </p> <div>DESIGNED FOR PROFESSIONALS: Beyond its unique warranty, the Professional Series offers numerous other special features designed to boost performance and extend water heater life:</div> <div>• The EverKleen® Self-Cleaning System is a patented cold-water inlet or “dip” tube that creates a high-velocity, swirling vortex at the point where water enters the tank. This constant agitation prevents harmful sediment that precipitates from the water from settling at the bottom of the tank and disrupting the heat-transfer process. The spiraling action also reduces the effects of “stacking” by creating a more even water temperature from top to bottom of the tank. The benefits? More hot water at the tap, lower energy bills and longer tank life.<br> • Two-and-a-half inches of energy-saving foam insulation, with an approximate R-value of R-20, helps retain heat in the tank during standby periods. Because the water heater doesn’t work as hard to meet new demand for hot water, it lasts longer.</div> <div>• All Professional Series gas and electric units are equipped with the patented, premium-grade R-Tech anode rod, which shields exposed metal in the water heater tank from corrosion. Conventional anodes are prone to become “over-active” in aggressive water conditions. The R-Tech has a built-in resistored circuit that slows conductivity: the anode lasts longer and so, therefore, does the tank. In addition, the R-Tech anode also minimizes “smelly” water conditions, usually triggered by a buildup of hydrogen sulfide — a frequent by-product of an over-active anode in rural applications.</div> <div>• The Lifeguard™ element is standard equipment on all Professional electric models. The element’s outer sheath is made of a durable stainless steel — the same material used in electric-range elements. This assures that the element will last as long as the water heater. Lifeguard’s low-watt density design reduces the concentration of heat along the element, delivering heat to the water more efficiently and reducing sediment buildup, thereby extending the life of the water heater.</div> <p> </p> <div>Professional Series gas models range in storage capacity from 40 gallons to 100 gallons, with inputs up to 75,000 Btu. Electric models are available from 30 gallons to 80 gallons. All units are equipped with brass drain valves, and a temperature and pressure relief valve is included in every water heater carton.<br> <br> For more information on the Professional Series, distributors and contractors should their local Rheem or Ruud sales representative..</div> <p>RHEEM MANUFACTURING COMPANY, headquartered in New York City, is a leading producer of residential water heaters in North America and the world, with manufacturing operations on three continents.
