The Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit featuring eSync Integration Technology wins Product of the Year at the 2013 AHR Expo Innovation Awards

ATLANTA—February 21, 2013-The first-of-its-kind Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit featuring eSync Integration Technology won the prestigious Product of the Year as part of the AHR Expo Innovation Awards. This is the first time that Rheem has claimed the top prize during the AHR Expo Innovation Awards.

“The entire team at Rheem is thrilled and honored to receive the 2013 AHR Expo Innovation award in the Cooling Category as well as the 2013 AHR Expo Product of the Year award for the Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit featuring eSync Integration Technology,” said Chris Peel, senior vice president and COO, Rheem. “These awards continue to validate our long term strategy to lead with innovative air and water solutions that promote higher efficiency and value for our customers. Rheem remains committed to launching many more unique and environmentally responsible product innovations in the coming months and years.”

The AHR Innovation Awards honor the most innovative new products showcased during the annual AHR Expo, which is the largest HVACR exposition and conference in the world. Prior to the show, a panel of judges made up of ASHRAE members selected 10 product winners in various categories based on innovation, application, value to the user and market impact. The H2AC Rooftop Unit won this year’s award in the cooling category, which includes any product or system designed to decrease the temperature of a space.

Of the 10 products selected as 2013 AHR Expo Innovation Award winners, only one is named Product of the Year. Representatives from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI); and the International Exposition Company (IEC), producers and organizers of the AHR Expo, hosted the AHR Expo Innovation Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 29, where the Product of the Year winner was announced. Joseph Fristik, Rheem’s vice president of national accounts and marketing, accepted the honor on Rheem’s behalf.

The H2AC Rooftop Unit unites a commercial establishment’s HVAC and water heating systems to achieve significant efficiencies. It works by using Rheem’s exclusive eSync Integration Technology, which takes the heat removed by the HVAC system and uses it as an efficient source for heating water. The H2AC Rooftop Unit can pre-heat a facility’s cold water supply to as much as 125 degrees Fahrenheit—which substantially reduces water heating costs.

In addition to the AHR Expo Innovation Award honors, the H2AC Rooftop Unit earned a 2012 Gold Dealer Design Award in the commercial equipment category and a 2012 Mechanical Systems Week Product Showcase Award in the forced-air (cooling) category.
