Bell Finishes 27th in Second Race of NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend at Dover International Speedway

Stage 1 Recap (Laps 1-70)
  • Christopher Bell started 24th for 311 laps on Sunday at Dover International Speedway to close out the NASCAR Cup Series doubleheader weekend at the 1.0-mile concrete oval.
  • The No. 95 Rheem Toyota Camry fired off tight to start and under a caution for debris on lap 34 Bell came down pit road for four tires and fuel. Unfortunately, not all the lug nuts were secured on the right-front tire, so Bell had to make an extra trip down pit road to tighten the lug nuts.
  • Bell restarted 32nd following the additional pit stop and raced his way up to 23rd to close out stage one at Dover.
  • At the stage break Bell reported that he was a little free, but overall felt good. He came down pit road under the stage break for four tires and fuel.
Stage 2 Recap (Laps 79-185)
  • Bell started 19th and finished 25th in stage two.
  • NASCAR briefly red flagged the field for repair to the track surface prior to the start of stage two.
  • Once repairs were made the field resumed racing. Bell reported that his No. 95 Toyota needed to be tightened up on landing.
  • A caution came out on lap 99 while Bell was running 23rd. Bell came down pit road for fuel only and restarted seventh on lap 106.
  • Bell wasn’t able to hold off the cars with fresh tires and dropped back, ultimately going a lap down to the leaders.
  • Bell closed out stage two 25th and pitted for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment.
Stage 3 Recap (Laps 192-311)
  • Bell started stage three 23rd and crossed the finish line 27th.
  • The car continued to have a tight handling condition throughout the final stage at Dover.
  • Over a long green flag run Bell lost a second lap to the leaders but was able to capitalize on a caution towards the end of the race to take the “wave around” and get one lap back.
  • Bell chose the top line for the final restart and crossed the finish line 27th, one lap down to the leaders.
