Austin Dillon started in the Boyd Gaming 300 in the 14th position, but lacked the speed that he wanted during the race. The No. 2 RTP/Rheem chevrolet team worked hard to keep Dillon within sights of the top-five. After passing RCR teammate Brandon Jones in the final turn of the final lap, Austin Dillon surged ahead and made the checkered flag in 5th-place. This makes Dillon's first top-five finish of the NASCAR XFINITY Series 2016 season.

We never really had the speed today that we wanted. We lacked a little bit on the car handling ability, but the No. 2 RTP/Rheem Chevrolet team worked hard at it all day. We had to save fuel there at the end to make it all the way to the checkered flag. Brandon Jones really started saving a lot, and we ended up getting by him coming to the flag. I had a lot of fun today. We have some things to work on to get better, but we'll get there. - Austin Dillon
