Austin Dillon Finishes 14th in the Desert at DAV 200

NASCAR XFINITY Series - DAV 200 Honoring America's Veterans
November 14, 2015 - Phoenix International Raceway - Avondale, AZ

Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet team finished 14th in the DAV 200 Honoring America's Veterans at Phoenix International Raceway on Saturday afternoon. Dillon started the 200-lap event from the outside pole and immediately reported he was too loose. As the track temperature changed, Dillon reported he was too tight on exit. Crew chief Danny Stockman called the Richard Childress Racing driver to the attention of the Rheem pit crew on lap 112 when the field was slowed for a caution flag. The team serviced the black and red Chevrolet with four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Dillon restarted fifth on the ensuing green flag and began experiencing a slight vibration. Dillon returned to pit road under green-flag conditions on lap 163 for a loose right-rear wheel. During his time on pit road, Dillon fell one lap down to the leaders and rejoined the racing surface in the 17th position. In the remaining 30 laps of the race, Dillon was able to improve to 14th before crossing the finish line.

We didn't have a car that could win today, but we were definitely a top-five car. On that last pit stop, we tried to get all we could but didn't get all the lug nuts tight on the right rear wheel forcing us to pit again a few laps later. I'm still proud of the Rheem team for all their hard work this weekend. We still have one race left on the NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule. We'll go out and try to get us another one before the season is over. - Austin Dillon
